We are so excited to have added Julie Haymaker Thompson to our roster of instructors for Vegas 2010. She’ll be teaching two classes, “Life Is But A Dream” and “In dreams” on Tuesday, Feb. 23 and Wednesday the 24th. She’ll also be teaching a class called “Controlled Burn” in Wisconsin. Can’t wait for both.

About Julie Haymaker Thompson:

Julie has 30 years experience as a professional Illustrator, freelance artist and worked as an inhouse artist for Hallmark Cards inc. When not illustrating she’s always been drawn to the art and craft of arts and crafts. She loves the process of finishing her work with lots of detail and does so by using her metal smith training, wood burning techniques and other embellishments. The result and finished pieces are amazing. As an instructor Julie  enjoys the rewarding experience of seeing students move out of the stress of daily living while spending several hours caught up in the relaxing moment of creating.

For Portland attendees, Gresham Therapeutic Massage Center (GTMC) will be at the Embassy Suites to offer massage therapy during your stay. They’ll be offering chair massage during your lunch and after classes. Full body massage will be offered daily with the first appointment beginning at 4:45 and the last appointment at 8:15 pm.

Chair massage is $1.00 per minute with a minimum of 5 minutes and a maximum of 20 minutes.

Full body massage is $75 per 60 minute massage or $105 for a 90 minute massage.

Please visit the GTMC website,  to obtain more information on their company and massages. Please be advised massage prices contained on their website are for clients receiving massage in the office and not what is referred to as “outcall” massage that is done at another location. If you would like to take advantage of the lower rate and receive your massage in their office please specify when you call to schedule.

If you wish to receive massage during your stay, please call (503-492-3910) now to reserve your massage as appointments will go quickly.  All appointments need to be paid via credit card at the time of scheduling.  Should you cancel your appointment 24 hours prior to your appointment, a full refund will be given.

They can’t wait to get their hands on you!

We can’t wait for Portland and want to include everyone in on the excitement, so we’ve organized our first giveaway. We’re giving away…drum roll please…a deck of Art & Soul cards featuring some of our favorite artists. This is a gorgeous deck, would make a great gift and will bring art to any card game. Fun! We like a little bit of friendly competition, so we have a question for you. We’ll take all the correct answers, put them in a hat and draw one lucky winner. You can respond here by making a comment, post on our facebook page or tweet the answer, too. Deadline for submitting your post, comment or tweet is on Sept. 28th. Hurrrry. Or is that hooray? Good luck.

Question: What year was the first A&S retreat held in Virginia?
